Chinese Condoms Are Too Small: Minister

At an event to create awareness about HIV/Aids prevention in the capital Harare, Zimbabwe Health Minister David Parirenyatwa complained Chinese Condoms are too small for the men in his country. 'HIV is prevalent in the southern African region. We import condoms from China. We have been receiving complaints from some of our men that these condoms aren't large enough for them,' he said.

Mr. David wants Zimbabwean Firm to start manufacturing condoms rather than making the Government and Public rely on imports.

The Chinese Condom Manufacturer informed it is considering making condoms in various sizes after knowing about the complaint from Zimbabwe Minister. Zhao Chuan who is the chief executive of condom brand Beijing Daxiang says, 'There is demand for different sizes of condoms. We are working in that direction. Based on data collected through surveys, Sizes of the condoms will be finalized. Requirement differs from one country to another. While Chinese prefer thinner condoms, Americans like softer ones'.

13.5 percent of Adult Population in Zimbabwe is infected with HIV. Not a surprise it became one of top 5 condom importers in the World.
