The Bharatiya Janata Party ruled Karnataka is not having a good time with many issues. Earlier the state went through a tense situation with the hijab issue, which was followed by halal meat. Objecting to the halal practice of killing animals, a few Hindu outfits have demanded that the meat of the Jhatka practice should be made available.

Now a fresh controversy is sending shocking waves in Karnataka. A few Hindu outfits have raised a new demand that the loudspeakers used in mosques to play azaan should be banned. The new issue did not start in Karnataka, but the outfits took a leaf out of the neighboring state Maharashtra.

Mainly two outfits Bajrang Dal and Sriram Sena are aggressively promoting the demand. Not just demanding the ban on loudspeakers in mosques, the outfits are reportedly threatening that they will play Hanuman Chalisa if the loudspeakers at mosques are not stopped.

While people are talking about the issue largely, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had broken his silence on the issue at last and said that banning loudspeakers is not something the government is telling, it was said by the High Court.

Addressing the press earlier today, the Chief Minister said that, earlier the High Court said no to the use of loudspeakers and everyone has to obey the orders. However, Basavaraj Bommai made it clear that the issue is not related to mosques alone and applies to everyone.

Citing the orders issued by the Karnataka High Court last year, the Chief Minister said that the court had issued directives to curb the loudspeakers usage at religious places. Adding further, the CM said the government is not forcing anyone.

"This is a high court order. It's not forced. Everything has to be done by talking and explaining to people. It is not only for azaan, it is for all loudspeakers. So, we will take a call," the Chief Minister said.

The Azaan issue had popped up when Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray had objected to the loudspeakers at mosques. He even asked what the use of playing azaan at a bigger volume was. Urging the mosques to reduce the volume, he said that Hanuman Chalisa will be played on loudspeakers.
