By: Tupaki Desk | 2 Feb 2021 9:48 AM GMTThe Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been pushing the idea to have three capitals, one each for legislative, executive, and judicial.
Jagan Mohan Reddyâs dream project got a much-needed boost up, with the 15th Finance Commission has recommended that the soon-to-be executive capital, the shore city Vizag should be granted funds of Rs 1,400, reports claimed.
According to the information, the recommendations from the FC came to lend a helping hand to Andhra Pradesh, which was left without a capital when Telangana was carved out of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
The 15th Finance Commission proposed the allotment of funds after the Andhra Pradesh government has reached out to the Central government to grant them sufficient funds to develop the executive capital Vizag into an economic hub.
The funds granted by the Centre will be used in developing the shore city, including building necessary structures and focusing on roads, water supply, and underground drainage system.
On the other hand, the areas affected by fluoride will also be focused. As part of this, Uddnam is likely to get funding of Rs 300 crore to supply safe drinking water to the public. Palnadu and Kanigiri regions in Guntur and Prakasam districts respectively, will be granted funds for water supply.
Looking at the GST compensation, Andhra Pradesh is expected to receive a sum of Rs 12,296 crore for six years, from the financial year 2020-21 to 2025-26. The AP GNDP is expected to be around Rs 68,12,739 crore in the same period.
