Congress yet to settle Rs 2 lakh dues to Chaiwala

Inder Joshi runs a small tea stall behind Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) Headquarters at Azad Maidan. His family has been running the tea stall here since many decades. Congress leaders and workers love the tea supplied from here. Recently, Inder Joshi stopped supplying tea to Congressmen on credit as the outstanding balance touched Rs 2 lakh. He, however, exudes confidence that Congress party would settle the bill soon.
MRCC President Sanjay Nirupam admits party is yet to clear the dues and the issue came to his notice only a few weeks ago. He claimed, 'Rs 2 lakh out of the total Rs 4 lakh dues has already been settled. The delay in settling the balance happened because of the carelessness of one of our functionaries. We will clear the four months outstanding balance soon'.
Congress Leaders openly say party is facing cash crunch after demonetisation. The party has even decided to prefer a low-cost campaign for upcoming elections.
