Congress Defectors Booed, Sent Away From Villages
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 May 2019 6:40 AM GMTThe parties may be helpless in preventing possible defectors from ditching the party that helped them become MLAs. But, the people are not. They can show the elected MLAs their place. They can teach a lesson to the MLAs in such a way that they can never forget.
Two Congress MLAs, who ditched the party and joined the TRS for the crumbs that the position of power threw at them, faced the people's ire when they went back to their constituencies. When Yellandu MLA Haripriya Naik went to Govindrajula Palle in Kamepalli mandal, which is part of her constituency, irate people stopped her from entering the village. They asked her to either resign and seek re-election or remain in the Congress. They strongly opposed her defection to the TRS. Unable to convince the people, Haripriya turned back and scooted out of the area.
Another Congress MLA Rega Kantha Rao. Rao represents Pinapaka Assembly Constituency in Telangana Assembly. The other day, he went to Reddygudem in Burgumpahad mandal. The Congress workers and the people stopped him from entering the village. Left with no option, Rao returned without visiting the village. Congress feels this kind of pressure tactics will make the truant MLAs see the reason. Will they?
