The Congress, it appears, has given up on Munugode. The party leadership appears to have lost interest in Munugode. The party's state leadership, which exacerbated the tensions between the Komatireddy brothers and the party, appears to be paying a price for their actions. They may not just lose Munugode, but even be relegated to the third position in the constituency.

According to a survey conducted by party strategist Sunil Kanugolu, 40 percent of the grassroots level leadership has already left the party. They have joined hands with Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy. The survey said that more leaders are likely to join the BJP in the coming days. By the time the election schedule is announced, the Congress would be cleaned up completely, the survey reportedly predicted.

To add to the woes, none except former minister Ramreddy Damodar Reddy is taking interest in the party campaign. Senior leaders like Jana Reddy are taking little interest in the party work. They are attending an occasional party meeting in Munugode. Beyond that, nothing much is being done. What is more worrisome is that TPCC chief Revanth Reddy, who bragged about defeating Komatireddys, is not even bothering to visit the constituency regularly.

Sunil Kanugolu's report reportedly told the party high command that the fight in Munugode was over even before it began. The Congress is out of the race, is the loud and clear message for the party. The report further said that Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who is still in the Congress, is actually weakening the party from within.
