It has won 466 rnout of 576 divisions in the six corporations that went to polls. The rnparty has won 44 out of 55 divisions in Bhavnagar, 50 out of 64 in rnJamnagar, 93 out of 120 seats in Surat, 68 out 72 in Rajkot, 69 out of rn76 in Vadodara, 161 out of 196 in Ahmedabad.
The Aam Admi Party, rnwhich entered the fray in Gujarat has 27 seats in Surat and MIM won rnseven seats in Ahmedabad. For both the parties, this is the taste of rnfirst victory. The biggest loser is the Congress Party. The party failedrn to open account in Surat. It has lost deposits in many seats. The rnCongress could win just 11 seats in Jamnagar, eight in Bhavnagar, four rnin Rajkot and seven in Vadodara. In the all-important Ahmedabad, the rnCongress could win just 15 seats. Thus, the total number of seats that rnthe Congress has managed to win is 45 of out of 576 seats. The Aam Admirn Party has won a total of 27 seats while the MIM could win just 3 seats.rn The BSP had won three seats. The remaining seats went to the rnindependents.
To add insult to injury, the Congress lost both thern Rajya Sabha seats, including the one that was represented by Ahmed rnPatel, to the BJP. Thus the party appears to be completely in shambles rnin Gujarat. If the opposition space is appropriated by AAP or some otherrn party, then the Congress will completely lose out.
