Till recently, NRI-turned-politician and suave leading legal light Madhu Yashki Goud was the to-go man for the Congress workers in Nizamabad. He was twice elected MP and had lost in 2014 to KCRâs daughter Kalwakuntla Kavitha. In 2019 elections, he finished third in the keenly contested race. Ever since, he has remained low key and is said to be keeping away from Nizamabad. His visits have become rarer and his accessibility even scarcer. As for Shabbir Ali, he is still active, but mostly in Hyderabad. His visits are limited to Kamareddy only. There are allegations that he is more focused on his businesses rather than politics.
The poor performance of the Congress in the recent civic body elections has proved to be a dampener for both these one-time strongmen. As a result, the Congress in Nizamabad is becoming increasingly weak and vulnerable.
