In the counting, Congress leader N Venugopal whom the Congress party projected as the Mayoral candidate suffered a loss in the hands of BJP candidate with just one vote.

Talking to the media, Venugopal said he was very confident of winning the seat. There was a problem in the voting machine which might be the reason for the victory of the BJP candidate.

Adding further, Venugopal, who lost the Kochi Corporation North Island ward by a mere one vote, said as of now, he has not decided not to move the court over the voting machine issue.

The votes counting for the local body elections started at 8 AM today. The final results are expected to be out soon. It is believed that the ruling Left Democratic Front in Kerala hs reached a conformable position.
