Congress Veteran says Chiranjeevi is not associated with party

As today marks the birth centenary of former Prime Minister late PV Narasimha Rao, the Andhra Pradesh wing of Congress had celebrated the occasion at temple City Vijayawada.
A press briefing was conducted by the party. During the briefing, a question of whether Mega Star Chiranjeevi is still a part of the party was asked by the media.
Former Chief Minister and General Secretary of All India Congress Committee Oommen chandy told the press that Chiranjeevi is not a part of the party and cited the reason that he is not attending the party events and programs.
Former Congressman Chiranjeevi kept his distance from the Congress party since the party suffered a big loss in the 2014 polls.Chiranjeevi floated his Praja Rajyam Party in 2008 and contested the 2009 elections. However, the party had managed to win 18 seats and later got merged into the Congress party. Chiranjeevi was elated as a Rajya Sabha member and was given Tourism Ministry.
