Congress Wants A Wicket Keeper, Not Attacking Batsman
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Dec 2020 1:36 PM ISTThe Congress high command has now changed priorities in Telangana. Till now, it's priority is to look for a PCC president who can bring back the lost glory of the party. But now , the party high command feels that now it needs a party president who can prevent the exodus from the party.
The party suffered a major jolt in Dubbak bypoll despite appointing incharges for every village. Several top leaders stayed put in Dubbak and campaigned vigorously for the Congress candidate. But the result has been very disappointing. The party lost its security deposit. In the GHMC too, the party has lost its traditional votes and got just 6 per cent votes. Last time, it got around 25 per cent votes. This time, it got just two seats, both in Revanth Reddy's LokSabha constituency.
Now post GHMC elections, many of the key leaders, who even resisted overtures from the TRS, are now looking to join the BJP. After Vijayasanthi and Guduru Narayana Reddy, several senior leaders, including Jana Reddy and his son, are rumoured to be in talks with the BJP. Some more MLAs are said to be looking towards BJP. Hence the Congress now needs someone who can stop people from leaving the party. It wants someone who can keep the flock together, let alone fighting the TRS. So, the high command is said to be looking for someone who can prevent the leaders from leaving the party.
Some senior party leader quipped thus: The Congress now wants a wicket keeper not an attacking batsman."
