Congress wants leaders who can win Muslim voters
By: Tupaki Desk | 28 Jun 2020 6:50 AM GMTThe Congress Party has made a sudden decision to include Tariq Anwar as the AICC general secretary. Why has he been suddenly given this post? This question is now haunting the Congress leaders across the country.
If highly placed sources are to be believed, Tariq Anwar has been brought to put brakes on two other senior Muslim leaders in the Congress Party. The party's top leadership feels that both Ahmed Patel and Ghulam Nabi Azad have outlived their utility for the party and have become white elephants. The party leadership feels that these two leaders are unable to attract Muslim voters and are unable to inspire confidence in the minorities. Hence, the party has brought in slightly youngish and more active Tariq Anwar.
Both Ahmed Patel and Ghulam Nabi Azad have been rewarded with Rajya Sabha MP seats. The party is now planning to reduce their dependence on these two leaders, sources say.
