Tripura CM's Shocking Comments on Special Status
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Sep 2016 6:22 AM GMTTripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar made it clear there willn't be any much use of Special Category Status during the NDA rule.
In his recent interview, Manik Sarkar told NDA Government isn't giving much importance to Special Status and points out the reduction of Central Funds. 'No truth in the belief that funds will flow to the states accorded with Special Status. Not just Tripura, A lot of states in the country were facing financial crisis. Although PM didn't announce withdrawal of Special Status to Tripura so far, We aren't receiving any benefits from it. In the past, We used to receive funds through Planning Commission & Finance Commission. While NDA slashed few, they had withdrawn the rest. There is a big conspiracy behind increase of States share in Central Funds from 32 to 42 percent as per the recommendations of 14th Finance Commission. We were denied Rs 500 per year we have been getting until then. In addition, Rs 2,500 crore were granted as benefit of Special Status. Now, All these funds have been included in it. NDA has withdrawn several Centrally-sponsored schemes. Whether there is Special Status or not, States willn't receive funds without cooperation from Centre. NDA is helping the states where its alliance partners have been in power,' he said.
The views expressed by Manik Sarkar is an eye-opener for Opposition Parties and People of AP. Its time to stop blaming TDP Government which is trying to maintain good relations and accept whatever is being offered by the Centre.
