First Pandemic Vaccine With No Side Effects Gearing Up For The Second Phase Of Trials
By: Tupaki Desk | 1 Sep 2020 12:20 PM GMTIn the wake of ongoing Coronavirus getting deeper and deeper into India, the clinical trials of the 'Covaxin' is grabbing all the attention.
Some media reports claimed that so far, the first phase of the human clinical trial hasn't shown any side effects which is giving hope on the potential vaccine to cure the deadly virus.
If we have to take anything from the media reports, the Institute of Medical Sciences is gearing up for the second phase of the clinical trials. The trails will be started very soon.
The blood samples of the volunteers who received the vaccine showed no side effects during the first phase of the human trails which is a positive sign. If the second phase too shows no side effects then we will be one step close to the vaccine.
Dr. E Venkata Rao, Principal Investigator of the trial at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, spoke about the doses given to the volunteers.
He said that every volunteer was given two doses of vaccine and a screening process was also carried out. To get accurate data, blood samples of the volunteers were collected on 28, 42, 104, 194 days respectively.
