India, which has been registering fewer fresh Coronavirus over the past few days reported a massive dip in the fresh Covid-19 infections as the case count has come down.

In the past 24 hours, India registered 16,504 new infections of the coronavirus, which pushes the total toll of the cases to a whopping 10,340,469, the Union Health Ministry said.

In a piece of good news, the total recoveries in India have surpassed the 99 lakh mark with 99,46,867 recoveries, including 19,557 fresh recoveries lodged in the past 24 hours. The active cases stood at 243,953.

The gap between the active cases and recovered cases which has been increasing gradually got increased to a whopping 9,702,914. The dip of fresh cases is the main reason for this.

On the other hand, 214 people breathe their last battling the virus, while the total toll of Covid-19 casualties to 1,49,649 with a mortality rate of 1.4 percent which is less compared to the other worst-affected nations.

The other day, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) gave its nod for two vaccines for emergency use with some restrictions. The vaccination drive is expected to be conducted soon.
