Weeks after India has launched the world's largest inoculation drive against the novel Coronavirus, the fresh infections have come down rapidly. Less than 9,000 infections were registered in the past 24 hours.

According to the information provided by the Union Health Ministry, India has added 8,635 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, which takes the total toll of infections to 1,07,66,245. The fresh infections are the lowest fresh infections in nearly eight months

Looking at the fresh Coronavirus fatalities. The count has come down to 94. With 94 fresh casualties, the total casualties zoomed to 1,54,486, with a mortality rate of 1.4 percent.

In a piece of good news, not less than 13,423 patients have declared cured of the ongoing pandemic in the past 24 hours. The total recoveries in India rose to a whopping 1,04,48,406. India’s recovery rate stood at 97 percent. The active cases stood at 1,63,353.

Five states -Kerala (3,459), Maharashtra (1,948), Tamil Nadu (502), Chhattisgarh (322), and Gujarat (298) registered the highest fresh infections in the past 24 hours.

The Union government has started the massive vaccination drive against the Coronavirus on the 16th of January, this year. So far, more than 39 lakh beneficiaries have been administered the vaccines.

In the Union Budget delivered by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, an annual budget of 35,000 crore has been announced for vaccines. The FM said the budget will be increased if it is needed.

Looking at the global scenario, the total count went past the 10.38 crore mark, after 3,10,870 fresh Coronavirus infections were registered in the past 24 hours across the globe. More than 22.45 lakh people succumbed to the pandemic.
