The novel coronavirus is spreading its wings in Maharashtra as the count of the positive cases is getting high and high. In a much shocker, four fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in Mumbai slum clusters.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation(BMC) officials said that two cases of the deadly virus were reported from the Ghatkopar slum in the central suburbs, while Kalina area in western suburbs and the Chawl area of central Mumbai slums report one positive case each.

According to the information of the civic body, a 68-year-old maid from the Ghatkopar slum contracted the virus from the house of her employer who returned from a foreign country.

A 25-year old man from the same slum cluster was tested positive for the COVID-19 virus as the officials stated that he might have contracted the virus from the maid. The authorities have quarantined them at a quarantine facility as the slum does not have its own toilet and running water at the locality.

A 37-year-old resident of a Kalina slum to was also tested positive for the deadly virus who worked as a waiter in Italy did not show any signs of the virus when he returned to his home recently.

"He lives in a slum in Kalina housing some 25,000 people. There is no running water and people have to share several toilet blocks," a health department official said.

"The woman had no history of foreign travel and it is quite likely that she got the virus from someone who used to come to her food stall,” the official added.
