Covid-19 second wave: Hospitals experiencing a scarcity of beds!
By: Tupaki Desk | 30 March 2021 6:20 AM GMTThe second wave of the Coronavirus is the burning issue in the country. Several states are struggling to combat the respiratory disease with the fresh infections going up with each day passing.
On the other hand, Telangana is facing the wrath of the Coronavirus wave with the patients rushing to the hospitals. Especially, the state capital Hyderabad is experiencing floods of Covid patients in private and state-run hospitals.
As per the media reports, the hospital beds are filling fast and the patients who want to admit to the hospitals have to wait till their turn comes. Like how the waiting list is used in Railways, the hospitals are also using the waiting list to allot the beds for the patients.
It has been widely reported that major hospitals in the city like Gandhi, TIMS, and NIMS are experiencing the same situation. The count of patients waiting to admit in the hospitals exceeding the count of discharged patients is making the situation even worse.
To match the needs of the patients, all the major private hospitals and the state-run hospitals are increasing the bed count in the irrespective hospitals which were decreased since late 2020.
It is also said that the state-run hospitals will be focused only on offering Covid-19 related treatment given the prevailing situations in the state.
The authorities have swung into action and increased the facilities like oxygen facilities, extra beds at the ICU facility in the Koti hospital. Elderly patients are visiting the hospitals with the fear of getting infected with Covid-19.
The authorities at the Koti hospital are discharging the elderly patients without Covid in 5-7 days and those who are suffering from a prolonged illness will be treated for a few more days.
