Covid cases down and casualties Go up in India!

As a piece of good news for India, the single-day Coronavirus cases are on a spree of seeing a steady downfall. Having surpassed the massive 3-lakh mark, the fresh cases have been coming down gradually, and currently, the cases are being reported on average of over 2 lakh.
While the dip in the fresh cases is a bit encouraging, the fresh casualties are increasing which is increasing several concerns. More than 800 patients have breathed their last in the past 24 hours. As the cases are going down, the casualties are going up.
India reported a record number of fresh casualties in the past 24 hours with as many as 871 casualties. India saw over 800 casualties after many months. Nearly after five months, India reported so many casualties.
Out of all the states the situation is one state is problematic as far as the Covid casualties are concerned. God’s own country Kerala had recorded as many as 352 casualties which is the highest for any state in recent times. After Kerala, Maharashtra recorded the second-highest casualties.
As a result of the steady decline in the cases, the positivity rate also saw a decline which now stood at 13.39 percent. India now holds as many as 20,04,333 active Covid cases which translates to 4.91 percent of the total cumulative cases of the virus. So far, more than 38 million Covid patients have managed to beat the virus with a recovery rate of 98.89 percent.
On the other hand, the nationwide vaccination wide is going on at a rapid phase. Having surpassed the 150 crore mark recently, as many as 1.6 million vaccines were given to the beneficiaries. The data included the first and second doses of the vaccine.
Amid the scare of the Omicron variant, night curfews and other restrictions were imposed in a few states and the concerned authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Under the restrictions to restrict the public movement, the establishments were directed to operate with 50 percent occupancy while the public was asked to strictly follow the Covid protocols without fail when they step out.
