Covid-19 Fear: England bans travel from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya, and Philippines
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 April 2021 12:24 PM GMTThe United Kingdom has intensified its fight to combat the new variants of the Covid-19 and added few more countries to the red list, which means the passengers from these nations will be banned to enter the nation.
In a statement, England announced that the Philippines, Pakistan, Kenya, and Bangladesh have been added to the list of red list. With this, the total number of nations added to the list increased to 39.
However, the government made it clear that the restrictions will not apply to the British and Irish nationals and residents living in the nations added to the red list. After reaching England, the citizens have to be in hotel quarantine and they have to spend the expenses for this from their pockets.
The new restrictions will come into effect from 4 am on 9 April and will continue to be in effect until further notice. The government said the new restrictions were imposed to protect public health.
"The government has made it consistently clear it will take decisive action if necessary to contain the virus and has added these destinations to the red list to protect public health," the government said in the statement.
Media reports claimed that Britain Prime Minister Boris Johnson is looking at the proposal to add France and Germany to the red list. These European nations are experiencing the third wave of Coronavirus.
