Covid-19 Scare: Virus strain is missing RT-PCR tests when patients have symptoms!
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 April 2021 10:31 AM GMTSince April this year, India has made it a habit of reporting record single-day Coronavirus infections. For the third consecutive day, India added more than 1'5 lakh new Covid-19 cases.
Experts are crediting the Britain virus of the novel Coronavirus for driving the rise of the pandemic outbreak. Adding more fears, the doctors have found that the new mutant of the virus is not found in RT-PCR testing.
Doctors in private hospitals in the national capital Delhi have found out that the new mutant is beating the RT-PCR tests not twice, but thrice which is very scary given the pandemic situation in the country.
Talking about the scary situation, Dr. Aashish Chaudhry, managing director of Aakash Healthcare said in the past few days they have received several patients who have symptoms of the virus, but they test negative in RT-PCR tests.
The same patients develop symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath, the typical symptoms of the novel Coronavirus. But the virus will not be detected when tested, he said.
Giving a reason for the virus beating the RT-PCR test, Dr. Pratibha Kale, associate professor of clinical microbiology at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, said that, the patients might not colonise the nasal or throat cavity which gives the virus to miss from the tests.
As per the data, nearly 15-20 percent of patients of the novel Coronavirus fall under the category of people who carry symptoms of respiratory disease but test negative in the tests.
With the new variant spreading its deadly wings in the country, it's the duty of everyone to be more cautious of taking the prescribed precaution to be safe from respiratory disease.
