An international cricketer facing such allegations is not a small thing and the issue raised many eyeballs. Such issues will not send a correct message to the world. Taking serious note of this, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has suspended the player from all forms of cricket.

The suspension of the player comes with immediate effect. Announcing the same the Sri Lankan Cricket Board issued a statement in which it said that the player is suspended from all the formats and will not be considered for the selection in any games.

Having said that the Cricket Board maintained it would launch a detailed investigation into the matter and he would be penalised if proven guilty. The Cricket board said it has a zero-tolerance policy for such conduct and assured complete support to the Australian authorities.

"Furthermore, Sri Lanka Cricket will take the necessary steps to promptly carry out an inquiry into the alleged offense, and, upon conclusion of the aforementioned court case in Australia, steps will be taken to penalize the said player if found guilty", the board said in the release.

"Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to emphasize that it adopts a "zero tolerance" policy for any such conduct by a player and will provide all the required support to the Australian law enforcement authorities to carry out an impartial inquiry into the incident", the Cricket Board added.

The complaint made by the victim says that she met cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka through a dating app and chatted for a few days. The cricketer tried to sexually harass her when they met at her house.
