Chennai Super Kings moved Madras High Court to quash the Supreme Court appointed Justice RM Lodha Committee's verdict suspending it from IPL for a period of 2 years.

Terming the verdict as the grave miscarriage of justice, CSK mentions in the petition that the Lodha Committee wasn't appointed to determin the quantum of punishment based on the finding of Justice Mudgal Committee. The petition further adds, 'The suspension of CSK is illegal and beyond the reference made by Supreme Court in its order dated January 22nd, 2015'.

Actually, Supreme Court appointed a 3-Member Justice Mudgal Panel to probe the allegations of betting and spot-fixing in IPL 2013. The committee found Gurunath Meiyappan guilty of betting and India Cements breached IPL norms.

On January 22nd this year, Supreme Court appointed Justice Lodha Committe to determin the quantum of punishment to be imposed on Gurunath Meiyappan, franchises CSK and Rajasthan Royals. On July 14th, The panel delivered its verdict imposing a life ban on Gurunath Meiyappan and 2 years suspension for CSK & Rajasthan Royals.
