Curfew Lifted In Assam And Broadband Services Resumed

The days longer curfew in Guwahati was lifted on Tuesday over the violent protests in Assam opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill(CAB) and the broadband services were also restored in the state.

Union Minister for North-east Jitendra Singh took to Twitter to confirm the same.

"Curfew in #Guwahati ,#Assam completely withdrawn from 6 am today. Broadband services resumed," read his Tweet.

"The meeting decided to lift curfew completely in Guwahati from 6 am tomorrow (Tuesday). The meeting also decided to resume operation of broadband internet services in entire state from tomorrow morning," CMO's official statement read.

Director-General of Police of Assam Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta said the current condition in the state is in control now.

"Four people have been killed in police action unfortunately. Situation had become such that the police had to fire in order to save more people and property," he said.

"Things are much better now. We have arrested 190 persons so far. A Special Investigation Team is being formed which will investigate all aspects of the violence," he added.
