Will currency notes cause the spread Corona virus? Yes, say experts. They say that the currency notes can play a key role in spreading contagious diseases. Experts say that currency notes always change hands and thus carry the bacteria and virus from one person to the another.

In a study conducted in 2018, if was found that dangerous bacteria and viruses like Salmonella which causes typhoid, e coli, which causes gastro enteritis, are spread through the exchange of currency notes. Similarly, several other viral strains too are carried from hand to hand and currency notes act as carriers of these bacteria. As part of this study, the scientists also found that there were fungal and parasitic strains on the coins and the currency notes. Even using once saliva to count the notes could help spread the contagion.

The scientists say that washing of hands with soap or hand washing cream or using a sanitiser to rub the hands could help in preventing the spread of the virus and other bacteria.
