Dads comments come back to haunt son

As the race for cobbling up a credible non-BJP government is continuing despite the president's rule in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena for the first ever time in its existence has moved away from its founder's politics. Balasaheb Thackeray has always opposed the Congress and called out Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Uddhav Thackeray has officially said that together with NCP and the Congress, their strength could reach 154, which is more than the majority mark needed to form the government in the state.

While Uddhav called it a 'new beginning,' his father Balasaheb Thackeray has always rejected overtures from the two parties. So, as if to remind Uddhav of his father’s legacy, several videos of Balasaheb's interviews flooded the social media. In an interview given to the NDTV, Balasaheb said: "Possibility in politics...what? If at all it is said that it is a game of scoundrels, it is for a man to decide whether he wants to remain a gentleman or a scoundrel. If anybody's trying to become a scoundrel, then? But I will not go along with a scoundrel, whoever he may be." Another video doing rounds of the social media showed Balasaheb slamming Sharad Pawar thus:"The man responsible for toppling the (BJP's) Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government, how can we afford to shake hands with him? I will never at least. I will never." Several other interviews of Balasaheb are doing the rounds on the social media.

But, Uddhav Thackeray has taken these videos in his stride and is all set to stitch up an alliance with the very parties that his father disliked so intensely.
