Damage to Saraswati Idol: See Who Popularised The Post Online
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Oct 2020 3:45 AM GMTThere has always been a nagging suspicion that the rank and file in the TDP are trying to create communal discord in Andhra Pradesh by giving a lot of publicity to the incidents of damage to the deities and idols in various parts of the state. In an interesting update, a conspiracy to foment communal trouble in the state with a fake story of damage to the image of Goddess Saraswathi has just been busted.
From Tuesday this week, the social media went into a tizzy with the story of a Saraswati idol being defaced near Shankara Matham in Guntur's Narsaraopet. The social media accounts also claimed that liquor was poured on the idol and that is was defaced. It also claimed that the idol was set afire.
But, now it turns out that this 'story' first appeared in a TDP supporter's Whatsapp group. Soon, it was uploaded into a media journalists' Telegram group. Soon, TDP social media groups began forwarding it big time. Soon, it went viral and even the pro-TDP media too picked the story up to put it in the loop.
Groups like CBN Army Guntur district, Jai Telugu Desam, TDP official, CBN Soldiers, Saho Chandrababu and several others were very active in promoting this story. It now turns out that the story is totally fake. The idol of Saraswati, kept on a premise that formerly hosted a school, was damaged two years ago, when the TDP was in power. The damaged idol stayed in the same place for over two years, but it never became a news. Suddenly, it went viral on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The police have now arrested two persons in this connection and a search is on for one more person.
