Dangerous trend of attemps to malign judges: CJI NV Ramana

Such comments coming from the CJI had surprised everyone. The honorable Justice said he is making the statements with full responsibility.
Adding further, the CJI opined that powerful people and leaders who won't get orders from the courts are indulging in maligning the court and judges and called this a dangerous trend.
A person sitting on the Chief Justice's chair making these statements shows how serious the issue has turned.
CJI NV Ramana also said that, if the judges reach the CBI and IB officials to complain, they are not providing any help to the officers from the Judiciary.
The judiciary reaching out to the agencies to file complaints is a serious issue, CJI NV Ramana said.
The top court was hearing a case pertaining to ADJ Uttam Anand who was hit by an auto-rickshaw.
Taking a suo moto cognizance of the issue, the Apex Court heard the issue and asked about the development in the investigation from the Jharkhand Government.
During the arguments, the bench said there is no freedom to the judges and if they give orders that are not in favour of these powerful people, they will be maligned.
In response to the question asked by the Constitutional bench led by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana which also comprises justice Surya Kant, the government said the issue was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Having said that, the Jharkhand Government told the bench that the investigation will get full cooperation from the government end.
Notices have been issued to the investigation agency CBI and the next hearing in the case was adjourned to Monday.
ADJ Uttam Anand's case had sent shocking waves across the country. Several questions were raised on the safety of the judicial officers in the country who are dealing with cases of powerful people.
