In the latest development in the racist slurs issue, West Indies Former Captain Darren Sammy clarified that he misunderstood the words used by his IPL teammates and mistook them as racist statements.

The former skipper said that upon making conversation with one of the team players of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise for which he used to play for back in 2014.

To clarify the issue, the two time T20 World Cup-winning skipper took to Twitter and said that his team players used the word 'Kalu' from 'a place of love'.

"I'm pleased to say that I've had a really interesting conversation with one of the guys and we are looking at ways to educate rather than focusing on the negatives. My brother reassured me that he operated from a place of love, and I believe him," his Tweet read.

Following the sad incident of George Floyd professionals across the globe are raising their voice against racism and Darren Sammy too joined the list and recently said that he doesn't know the meaning of Kalu word and even called out the names of the players who used to address him by the 'derogatory word'.
