David Warner Not Ready To See Family Face Trouble Again!
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Dec 2022 5:57 AM GMTIt's been a few years since Cricket Australia imposed a ban on left-handed batsman David Warner in his captaincy due to the ball-tampering issue. Earlier he moved the Cricket Body of Australia to cancel the ban that was imposed on him. But the 36-year-old explosive player surprised one and all with his decision.
David Warner who earlier filed a bid asking Cricket Australia to cancel the ban on his has now decided to withdraw his application. The left-handed batsman took to social media to announce his decision. He said that he took the shocking decision as he prefers family over cricket.
Earlier last month David Warner filed a review petition with Cricket Australia. But the review panel said the hearing in the process should be held in public so that everyone would know what is going on in the hearing.
But David Warner said that his family has been going through a tough time over the past few years and he didn't want his family to face issues yet again. He shared a long statement on his Instagram account.
Usually, the code of conduct says that a player who had confessed to any violations cannot challenge the decision. Back in 2018, David Warner admitted that he tried to tamper with the ball. He broke down while saying the same.
However, the board of CA had rewritten the code which allows the player to challenge the decision. After the change was made many felt that David Warner would get relief. But that did not happen. The process did not go through any significant development.
After the review board said the hearing should be held in public, David Warner decided that enough is enough and his family should not face more issues and trouble with the issue.
"In effect, Counsel Assisting, and it appears, to some extent the Review Panel, want to conduct a public trial of me and what occurred during the third Test at Newlands. They want to conduct a public spectacle to, in the Panel's words, have a "cleansing".I am not prepared for my family to be the washing machine for cricket's dirty laundry." David Warner said.
