Dawood's 6 Properties in Mumbai to go for auction

Union Finance Ministry is now mulling to place as many as six properties of Underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim in Mumbai on auction.
A newspaper advert has been issued by the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Act (SAFEMA) for public auction of Dawood's properties on November 14th this year. The base price of these six properties has been fixed as Rs 5.54 crore. The properties include Damarwala Building near Bhendi Bazar where Dawood's younger brother Iqbal Kaskar lived till his arrest few weeks ago. The Underworld Don used to live in the same locality until he fled the country in the late 80s. This building was purchased by Dawood's Mother Amina Bi.
Other Properties - Hotel Raounaq Afroz, Shabnam Guest House on Mohammed Ali Road, Flat in Pearl Harbour apartment at Mazgaon, 600 sq metre plot in Aurangabad district and tenancy rights of a room in Dadriwala Chawl.
In the previous auction, An NGO named Desh Seva Samiti placed highest bid of Rs 4.28 crore for Hotel Raounaq Afroz. However, The organization failed to pay the amount within one month. Market price of this property is up to Rs 8 crore.
