The vaccine developed by leading American Biotechnology company Moderna based out of Cambridge is all set to make its way to India after the vaccine received the Emergency Use Approval(EUA) from the DGCI.

With this, Moderna's vaccine became the fourth vaccine that will be used to administer the beneficiaries in India. While Covaxin and Covishield are being used for the vaccination drive, Russia's Sputnik V was also cleared and the vaccine will be rolled out in India soon.

Niti Aayog member Dr. VK Paul at the press conference said the vaccine was given the emergency use permission for people above the age of 18 for the restricted use. A call will be taken on Pfizer doses soon, he said.

At the conference, the pediatrician said that the Moderna vaccine will be given to people in two doses like the other doses in the country.

The regulatory body, Drugs Controller General of India(DCGI) gave its nod for the Moderna vaccine today and the Pharma company Cipla will import the vaccine doses, media reports claimed.

It has been widely reported that the Mumbai-based Pharma company had applied for the import permission of the vaccines earlier and the drug controller gave its nod for the vaccine import for the company reportedly.
