India Is Expected To Give Its Nod For Oxford-AstraZeneca Vaccine!

The new variant of the Covid-19 detected in the United Kingdom ringing the danger bells across the globe. So far, the new strain is said to have spread to six other countries.

Amid this, tense situation, it is believed that the union government is likely to give its nod for the AstraZeneca-Oxford Covid Vaccine for the emergency purpose, as the United Kingdom has approved the vaccine.

The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) is all set to chair a crucial meeting to take a call on the vaccine approval.

It has been widely reported that the main motto of the meeting is to decide the allocation for the emergency use of the vaccine of the Pune-based Serum Institute of India.

This marks the second crucial meeting of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation this month. Earlier, the central body has met on the 9th of this month.

During the previous, meeting, the CDSCO is said to be not satisfied with the data provided by the vaccine makers, and the body directed the makers to come up with more data for the next meeting, which will commence today.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Serum Institute of India Adar Poonawalla said it is a piece of good news that the UK approved the vaccine. We are hoping to get a nod from India too.
