Uyyalawada - Freedom Fighter or Burglar?
By: Tupaki Desk | 28 Jan 2018 9:59 AM GMTUyyalawada Narasimha Reddy is known to be the first generation Freedom Fighter. 'Sye Raa', the upcoming flick of Chiranjeevi, is based on this famous personality hailing from Rayalaseema.
The comments of Historian Nekkanti Srinivasa Rao on Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy created a sensation now. He alleges a Burglar is being projected as a Freedom Fighter in 'Sye Raa'. A heated TV Debate took place on the same topic.
As per history, Uyyalawada revolted against Britishers in June 1846 and breathed his last on February 1847. Whereas, Nekkanti Srinivasa Rao says Britishers denied Uyyalawada Rs 11 which he deserved to inherit from his Grandfather and hence he became a burglar. 'It's unfair to project Uyyalawada, who resorted to burglary for selfish deeds, as a freedom fighter. Everything in circulation about Uyyalawada is untrue. He don't even have an army. The concept of ruler doesn't exist during his times. He just received the fort as a legal heir. 'Sye Raa' Unit must issue apology for distortion of the facts,' he demanded.
However, Producer Tirupathi Prasad didn't approve any of the comments made by the Historian. He accused Nekkanti of making such allegations to defame Uyyalawada and gain publicity. He explained Uyyalawada has targeted the treasury and weapons of Britishers to weaken them and these things are part of a war. He alleged Srinivas Rao is making baseless allegations just to create problems for Chiranjeevi's project.
