Jayalalithaa's Niece Deepa Jayakumar shared many undisclosed facts during her recent media interaction.

Deepa Jayakumar: 'I was born a day before Diwali in 1974. That's when my aunt used to live with my parents. She herself named me as Deepa which means light. We all used to live together. Since my school days, She used to actively participate in social welfare programmes. My aunt is my role model. I like her selfless attitude, hardwork and dedication. After we left Veda Nilayam in Poes Garden, Few new people have come to there. When Jayalalithaa become CM for the first time in 1991, All of us had lunch with her. I was sixteen then. My aunt introduced my dad Jayakumar as her brother to everyone. She was so happy when saw me and enquired about my studies. I could never forget that moment. After that I met her lot of times. She used to invite our family for important programmes'.

'After my father's death, Jayalalithaa came to console us. She recalled the days when she went to school along with my father. Thereafter, There was a gap between my aunt and my family. When I went to see her in jail in the year 1997, She asked me not to do it again as I was still young and also promised to meet me when she is out of prison. But, I wasn't able to meet her despite several attempts. Again, I met her when she became CM for the second time in 2002. I quarreled with her for keeping our family at a distance. That's when, She spent 5-6 hours with me. Thereafter, We haven't met again!'.
