After AP, Delhi Doesn't Give Even One Seat To Congress
By: Tupaki Desk | 11 Feb 2020 8:38 AM GMTThe Congress has once again failed to win even a single MLA in Delhi assembly elections. All its candidates have lost the elections and lost badly at that. After Andhra Pradesh, Delhi is the only state where the Congress has scored a zilch consecutively.
Though the exit polls predicted that the Congress might open its account in Delhi this time, things went completely awry. The party lost its plot and ceded its ground to both AAP and the BJP. Senior leaders like Alka Lamba, Krishna Tirath, Poonam Azad and Rajesh Lilothia lost their security deposits in Delhi. In 2015, Alka Lamba had contested and won on AAP ticket. Now, she has come back to contest on a Congress ticket only to lose badly.
Significantly, most key leaders, including Sonia Gandhi stayed away from campaigning for the party. Even Priyanka Gandhi campaigned nominally in Delhi. Ever since Shiela Dickshit's death, the party has slipped in its popularity and has lost the plot.
