As an unwanted development related to the Coronavirus situation in India, the fresh infections witnessed a surge in the country. Five states registered a rise in new infections.

This made the national capital Delhi act quickly and come up with new guidelines that people arriving from the five states have to submit a Covid-19 negative report. The new rule will come into effect from Feb 25, media reports claimed.

It is said that, from the 25th of February, people arriving from Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab should submit a negative RT-PCR test report to enter Delhi.

Dr. VK Paul, Niti Aayog member (health) said that two new variants of Covid-19 N440K and E484Q have been found in India. However, the government said the new mutation virus strains are not related to the surge in cases.

He said Kerala and Maharashtra hold 75 percent of the total active cases in India, while six people in India have been infected with the South Africa strain of SARS-CoV-2.

After six states have witnessed a surge in fresh Coronavirus infections, the Prime Minister’s Office chaired a crucial review meeting over the situation in the country after two strains were detected.
