Demand for Rohith Act alike Nirbhaya Act!

Members of Joint Action Committee for Social Justice came up with a fresh demand of introducing 'Rohith Act' on the lines of Nirbhaya Act. An announcement was made in this regard during the 'Chalo HCU' programme participated by Students, Activists and Intellectuals from across the country on Monday.
JAC for Social Justice opined implementation of Rohith Act ensures protection of Students for weaker sections in Higher Educational Institutions. The Members also placed the demand to sack Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani with immediate effect.
Hyderabad Central University research scholar Rohit Vemula committed suicide on January 17th in the hostel, following the ill-treatment meted out him since months. Students of IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, JNU, Osmania University, Andhra University, MANUU, TISS and EFLU have taken part in 'Chalo HCU'. Centre is yet to take a call on the demands raised by Students & Activists over sacking HCU VC Appa Rao and filing SC/ST Atrocity cases against those responsible.
