Demand to print Ambedkar's photo on Indian currency gets momentum

Former Minister of Law and Justice of India, B. R. Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb is always projected as the Father of the Indian Constitution and the campaigner against social discrimination towards the untouchables in India.
But Ambedkar's service to the nation is not restricted to these areas only. He played a key role in the conceptualization of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The British rulers had set up the RBI influenced by Ambedkar's suggestions.
There was a long history behind RBI coming into existence in the country. During the British rule, Ambedkar wrote the book 'Problem of the Rupee – Its Origin and Its Solution', which has the solutions and steps to be taken to increase the Indian rupee value.
Ambedkar was the main force in establishing the Reserve Bank of India in 1935. Going by the guidelines presented by Dr. Ambedkar to the Hilton Young Commission, the RBI was conceptualized.
The Ambedkar Photo Sadhana Samithi, which bats for Ambedkar's photo on Indian currency are questioning why Ambedkar, who was behind RBI conceptualization in not placed on currency notes.
To raise their voice for the demand, Ambedkar Photo Sadhana Samithi has planned to call for a Praja Chaitanya Ratha Yatra till April 14th, marking Ambedkar's Birth Anniversary. Earlier, the Samithi held Maha Padayatra from September 26-30, 2020.
The Ambedkar Photo Sadhana Samithi said, they met Kishan Reddy, Nirmala Sitharaman, and other MPs and requested them to place the bill to print Indian currency with Ambedkar's photo in the upcoming budget sessions. The Ministers agreed to support the demand.
