By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Dec 2020 12:52 PM ISTThis may be Corona season and the people might be struggling with salary cuts and job losses. But, online sales did exceedingly well this festive season. Not just that, the small towns and Tier II cities have done far too better compared to big cities.
Market surveys have shown that the online sales volume has doubled in small cities and towns. Surveys have shown that the sales have grown by over 99 per cent in the small towns and cities over the same festive season last year. Online giant Amazon has said that in the initial days of its festive sales, 91 per cent of the orders came from the small towns and cities.
Interestingly, the personal care products dominated the market. The volume of orders has shown a 176 per cent growth over last year. Of these, personal beauty care has dominated and recorded 52 per cent of the trade. Fashion and accessories too have registered a 72 per cent growth. However, the maximum online orders were for the electronic goods starting from earpieces to mobile phones. This segment has shown a 65 per cent increase. Market experts say that this growth was driven by the new launches, special discounts and bank offers.
