Despite Reaching Big Milestone, Sharmila's Yatra Has No Buzz!

Padayatra has a rich history in Telugu states. The leaders who did padayatra rose to power. The likes of YSR, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Ministers after the padayatra. The trend has gripped Telangana as well and leaders like T-BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar are doing padayatras.
Taking forward the tradition, YS Sharmila, daughter of former Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy aka YSR started a Padayatra. She has been promising Rajanna rajyam and targeting the ruling TRS for allegedly failing in running the state in a good direction.
The padayatra lasted for around 148 days and she covered a massive landmark of 2,000 km. The Yatra was started from the Chevella constituency. Despite covering various constituencies and meeting people in big numbers, there is no good buzz for the yatra and people are not talking about it much.
Telangana sentiment is very strong among the people. Whenever Sharmila tries to talk about Rajanna rajyam, the ruling TRS attacks her and asks how the daughter of YSR who opposed Telangana can try her luck in state politics.
Moreover, the three major parties in the state TRS, Congress, and Bharatiya Janata Party are strong and there is no required space for a new party to progress. Almost all the three parties have a strong vote base and Sharmila's party creating such a base appears an impossible task.
Earlier too, Sharmila pulled off a yatra. When his brother was in jail she took forward the Odarpu Yatra. Her yatra then raised many eyebrows and people talked about it more. Sadly, this is not the case in Telangana.
Taking forward the rich legacy of YSR is not working for Sharmila now. At regular intervals, TRS and the party members are trying hard to paint YSR as an Andhra leader who did not care much about the Telangana region and the developmental works here.
