Deve Gowda's Grandson and 5 others Booked for thrashing BJP workers
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 Dec 2019 7:33 AM GMTAhead of the by-polls for 15 Assembly seats in Karnataka an FIR was filed on Suraj Revanna, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowdaâs grandson and five others for allegedly assaulting four BJP workers in the Hassan district of Karnataka. The FIR was filed at the Channarayapatna police station.
Suraj is also the son of ex-Minister HD Revanna and the nephew of former CM HD Kumaraswamy.
The FIR states that six accused have assaulted the victims for leaving the JD(S) party and joining the BJP party. The accused along with 150-200 others have reached one of the victimâs house, where the four BJP workers have gathered. The BJP party workers were reportedly beaten with sticks and two cars were also damaged that were parked outside the house.
The victims were rushed to the Channarayapatna Government Hospital and the treatment is going on.
HD Revanna denied all the allegations and said Suraj was not even present at the spot when the alleged incident took place.
"Suraj was campaigning in Mandagere (a village in KR Pet constituency in Mandya district). Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan and Mysore IG (Inspector General) made him the A1 (accused 1) in this case," said HD Revanna. "For the last week, under their watch, money is being distributed in the KR Pet constituency. We are aware of this and have informed the Election Commission as well. And it is all happening from this Nimbahalli village where two BJP corporators from Bengaluru have also halted," he said.
"If the police hadn't arrived on time, something worse would have happened. There are eyewitness... the law will take its course," he added.
