The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) imposed a ban on certain models of Apple MacBook Pro laptops over concerns of overheating of batteries and the possibility of catching fire. Flyers were requested by DGCA not to carry affected MacBook Pro Models either as hand baggage or checked-in baggage until the battery gets certified or verified as safe.

DGCA imposed the ban after Apple recalled 15-inch MacBook Pro Laptops sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017. This rule will be applicable to the Flyers within India and those who board International Flights from the country.

Apple asked Customers to stop using affected 15-inch MacBook Pro Laptops stressing on the risk factor. Customers were asked to visit apple.com/support/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall for knowing about details such as battery replacement free of cost.

Already, International Airlines banned affected MacBook Pro laptops on flights citing passengers safety is the top priority. This include American, European Union, Singapore and Thai Airlines.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 (2016) was the first device to face Airlines ban. And now, Apple Mackbook Pro joined the black list due to concerns over battery overheating.
