Dhawan Injured, Pant Or Raidu To Replace Him!
By: Tupaki Desk | 11 Jun 2019 9:50 AM GMTIndian Opener Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of World Cup for 3 weeks due to the Thumb Fracture he suffered during the India versus Australia match at The Oval on Sunday. He didn't travel with Team India to Nottingham for playing against New Zealand on Thursday.
In the crucial match against Australia, Dhawan scored a match-winning 117 runs of 109 balls. The bouncer bowled by Nathan Coulter-Nile hit the thumb of the Indian Opener but he continued to play for the country inspite of the nasty blow. While Australia was batting, Dhawan was found in the dressing room with an ice-pack on his left thumb instead of fielding.
BCCI is now considering replacing the injured Dhawan with one among Rishabh Pant or Vijay Shankar, Shreyas Iyer and Ambati Raidu. Whoever might be picked up, The possibility of KL Rahul opening the Innings with Rohit Sharma can't be ruled out as of now. Let's only hope the injury doesn't affect the balance and rhythm of Team India during the ongoing World Cup.
India will have to play 7 more League Matches and win at least 4 of them to qualify for the Semis. It would be interesting to see how the Kohli's Side will overcome the setback!
