Mighty Blow to Team India ahead of 2nd Test
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 Aug 2015 4:13 PM GMTIndian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been rested for the next two Tests of the ongoing Test Series against Sri Lanka due to a hairline fracture in his right hand.
This is mighty blow to India which is already on a back foot with the shocking defeat in the first test match. Apparently, Dhawan was the highest run scorer in the First Test and even had a big hundred to his credit.
Dhawan injured his right hand during the first innings on Day 1. That's the reason he wasn't seen on the field while Sri Lanka was batting in the Second Innings. The tests confirmed hairline fracture and he need 4-6 weeks for a complete recovery.
Another opener Muraly Vijay hasn't played first Test due to hamstring injury. The Team Physio will take a call on his inclusion in Playing XI just a day before the Second Test. Meanwhile, All-rounder Stuart Binny was asked to join the Team India squad and he might play the second Test in place of Varun Aaron or Harbhajan Singh.
