Dhoni escaped Ban, got away with 75% Fine!
By: Tupaki Desk | 19 Jun 2015 10:54 AM GMTIndian skipper MS Dhoni came under scanner after he forcefully collided with Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman while running a single in the 25th Over. Following this incident, The Debutante had to leave the feel due to a minor injury without even completing the over. He returned to field only in the 37th Over and bowled his remaining quota.
Match Referee Andy Pycroft treated it as a Level 1 Offence instead of Level 2 Offence which could lead to a ban. While Dhoni was fined 75% of match fee, Mustafiziur Rahman received a pay cut of 50%. Dhoni got away with just fine as the Bangladesh Team decided not to lodge any complaint with ICC against him.
Post the match, Dhoni played down the incident saying the collision happened just because he thought the bowler would move away and the bowler though he would move away but none had actually done so. He said such a thing could happen in any match and already spoke with the Bangla Bowler on this matter.
