Telangana Congress has been desperate to dethrone KCR from power in 2019. Whereas, Group Wars within the National Party has become a major concern now. A clear caste based division can be seen in the party at present.
Congress Party noticed the growing anti-incumbency against TRS Government sometime ago. Statewide Bus Yatra has been conducted to capitalize on the situation. Particularly, Farmers issues were highlighted by the Congress Leaders during this tour.
Quickly, KCR came up with Rythu Bandhu scheme which provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs 8,000 per acre in a financial year to all the Farmers in the state. Even the model schedule for Gram Panchayat Elections was released by TRS Government to get benefitted from the positive response from the Farmers. TRS Govt's Life Insurance scheme which would guarantee Rs 5 lakh compensation to the family of farmer who passed away was a death blow to the Congress.
While KCR is racing ahead, Congress Leaders are fighting among themselves. There is now a demand for allotment of 45 seats to the BCs. Former Minister Chittaranjan Das, OBC Northeast States in charge Kathi Venkataswamy, Former MLA Anil Kumar & Party Spokesperson Dasoju Sravan have been placing this demand. So, A cold war between Reddys and BCs in the T-Congress is continuing. There is even demand of increasing number of seats allocated for SCs and STs. Unless Congress settles internal wars, It can't put up a good fight in the next elections.
