Directors offered Bribe to Censor Board Chief
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 March 2016 4:45 PM GMTCentral Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Chief Pahlaj Nihalani disclosed that there are times when filmmakers tried to bribe him to attain desired certificate or for retaining few scenes. He, however, refused to reveal the names but doesn't mind saying few people don't have shame and they want to get the job done by hook or crook.
When asked about the 'Sanskari' tag Censor Board earned after he became it chief, Pahlaj Nihalani claims he treats it as an achievement for strictly following the rules & regulations. He also declares CBFC under his leadership is free from corruption and his staff didn't even accept the Diwali gifts.
Following the recent controversies, Centre appointed a Committee led by noted filmmaker Shyam Benegal to come up with a new set of rules for Censor Certification.
Pahlaj Nihalani states he is willing to follows whatever amendments Shyam Benegal committee might suggest in the rule book.
