Districts Saga:AP Govt Likely to add another District!
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 April 2022 8:09 AM GMTFor easy administration, the Andhra Pradesh government had come up with a decision to have more districts in the state. It took some time for the government to work on this and as announced earlier, the new districts were announced the other day and foundation stones for the newly announced districts were also laid.
The emergence of 13 new districts took the total number of districts to 26. The districts were made on the grounds of the Parliament constituencies. However, the government made the Araku constituency into two districts given the vast area it has.
Well, the district saga is not over yet and we might see one more district to come in Andhra Pradesh. The reason is that the people from the tribal areas want a district for them and the government is believed to be considering the demand and working on that.
Media reports had quoted Andhra Pradesh Cinematography Minister Perni Nani as saying that the government is looking into the matter to make a district by bringing the tribal regions under one roof. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is looking into the matter, Perni Nani reportedly said.
The government is likely to make a new district with Rampachodavaram, Polavaram submerging villages, and a few others. One more reason behind this could be the long-distance of the district headquarters from the Alluri district.
The decision of keeping Rampachodavaram in Alluri district and not making it the district headquarters has been receiving sharp reactions and the likes of Janasenani Pawan Kalyan, Telugu Desam Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu openly condemned the decision.
The opposition parties are alleging that there are many mistakes and loopholes in the way the districts were formed. The parties even say that the opinion of the locals on what they think on this is ignored by the government, which is a grave mistake.
The political experts believe that, after taking all these factors and criticism into consideration, the government had started working on bringing a district by adding the tribal regions in it. We might hear a piece of news on the new district from the Andhra Pradesh government very soon.
