D. K. Aruna sits on hunger strike demanding a ban on liquor in Telangana. Liquor consumption was a reason for increasing crimes against women, BJP leader and former minister DK Aruna demanded the state department to ban liquor by imposing total prohibition.
Speaking at the BJP state office in the city on Tuesday, said that heavy liquor sales in the State are leading to crimes against women. She recalled that there were two other incidents along with the Disha case, and each was linked to liquor consumption. She urged all political parties, NGOs and women to support the hunger-strike in order to build pressure on the State Government.
